  • Senior Civil Engineer – Leadership Position

    UEM is seeking a Leader for our Civil Engineering Group to find business opportunities, create long-lasting quality relationships with clients, and expand our team. We are looking for someone with a track record of successfully managing complex projects on-time and on-budget.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Preparation of proposals and fee estimates for design projects
    • Business development
    • Approvals (including Class Environmental Assessment)
    • Design and contract administration for road, water and sewer projects for public and private sector clients

     EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

    • Graduate from an accredited, relevant university engineering program
    • 10 or more years of experience, preferably in the consulting engineering field
    • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario
    • Excellent oral and written skills
    • Proven ability to manage projects and budgets

    SALARY/BENEFITS:

    • 6 month probation period
    • Starting 3 to 4 weeks of vacation (depending on experience), increasing as per UEM policy

  • Water Resources Engineer – Leadership Position

    The business objective of UEM’s Water Resources Group is to expand our market area and clients. We are supporting growth in revenue and higher profitability in our projects. In support of these objectives, UEM is seeking a Leader in our Water Resources Group.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Business development and marketing of UEM services
    • Preparation of proposals
    • Responsible for group profitability
    • Act as a liaison with clients
    • Allocation of resources to complete Water Resources and Management projects
    • Strong project management and project leadership skills

    EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

    • Graduate from an accredited, relevant university engineering program
    • Related Water Resources experience
    • 7 or more years of experience in providing professional consulting services
    • Excellent oral and written skills
    • Proven ability to manage projects and budgets
    • Ability to work within cross-functional teams

    SALARY/BENEFITS:

  • Asset Management Specialist

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Preparation of proposals
    • Assistance with business development
    • Evaluation of asset management needs and opportunities
    • Planning and implementation of asset management programs, infrastructure policy, and strategy
    • Development of asset performance management and levels of service
    • Identification of infrastructure needs assessment and risk management
    • Conduct lifecycle analysis and forecasting
    • Application of asset management standards and best practices
    • Collection and leverage of infrastructure data and information
    • Work with asset management tools and technologies
    • Delivery of asset management projects
    • Liaise with clients on projects, as required
    • Provide technical advice and support to junior staff

    EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

    • Graduate from an accredited, relevant university or college program
    • 5 or more years of experience in related field
    • Excellent oral and written skills
    • Strong project management and project leadership skills
    • Proven ability to manage projects and budgets
    • Ability to work within cross-functional teams
    • P.Eng. designation would be considered an asset

  • Construction Inspector

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Inspection of municipal infrastructure works
    • Elevation and grade checks to ensure conformance with approved drawings
    • Quantity measurement of works constructed to date, as they relate to the construction documents
    • Review and preparation of construction progress certificates for payment
    • Coordination of various sub-consultants and municipal authorities for inspection services
    • Reporting overall project status to department manager
    • Preparation of as-constructed documentation for record purposes
    • Negotiation with contractors, clients and approval authorities as it related to site decisions

     

    QUAIFICATIONS:

    • Certified Engineering Technician/Technologies or Professional Engineer with a minimum of 3 years site inspection experience in urban land and municipal infrastructure projects
    • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities
    • Ability to prepare concisely written documents
    • Experience with relevant computer software such as Word, Excel, etc.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Hold a valid G license and has full access to a reliable vehicle
    • Require own safety boots. Other safety equipment will be provided by UEM as required.

     SALARY/BENEFITS:

    • If a contract position:
      • Hourly position with rate commensurate with experience
      • 4% vacation pay will be paid in lieu of vacation time
      • Not eligible for UEM health and benefit plan
    • If a full-time UEM staff position:
      • 6 month probationary period
      • Starting minimum 2 weeks of vacation per year (depending on experience), increasing as per UEM policy
      • Hourly position with rate depending on experience
      • Eligible for health benefits – 3 month waiting period
      • Partial coverage of personal cell phone plan
      • UEM pays for one professional license and one relevant professional association
