Services | Water Resources > Stormwater Management
UEM’s Water Resources Professionals deliver reliable solutions to unique stormwater management issues. With our unique combination of fluvial geomorphology and process engineering expertise, UEM also excels at implementing stormwater management processes in non-standard settings, including applications in rural locations, at waste management facilities, or in other areas where water quality issues are more complex. Our understanding of the physical, biological and chemical aspects of water quality and treatment gives us a unique insight into the performance of stormwater management receiving atypical loads. With our geospatial assessment capabilities, we are able to examine watershed drainage patterns from large regional scales down to micro-drainage (in the order of a few centimetres). UEM also offers traditional stormwater management services, including conceptual and detailed design of pipe or channel conveyance systems and of peak-flow control systems with stormwater management ponds or other storage capabilities.
UEM’s stormwater management services include:
- Urban stormwater management planning and design;
- Specialized stormwater management planning and design in non-standard locations such as rural settings, landfills and golf courses;
- Micro-drainage analyses;
- Stormwater quality management assessments and remedial measures;
- Design of sub-surface flow biofilters (i.e. "constructed wetlands") for water quality control;
- Development of treatment objectives for proposed treatment systems based on receiving water assimilative capacity;
- Loading assessments for proposed treatment systems, including variability of water quality and flow rates;
- Preparation of applications for Ontario Water Resources Act approvals;
- Preparation of construction specifications and facilitation of the tendering process; and
- Construction observation and contract administration.
