Water, Wastewater & Roads Asset Management Strategy

City of Niagara Falls

UEM is currently completing a review of the Infrastructure Information Management Plan developed in 1998 and update to develop an asset management strategy based on current information, processes and staffing in the City. Based on industry best practices in asset management, we are providing the City with the following information:
  • An "As-Is" Assessment summarizing data usage, business processes, staffing, etc.
  • A Gap Analysis of data gaps and issues with existing asset information for asset management requirements.
  • A list of "To-Be" Recommendations for data, business processes and staffing (resource requirements) to support current asset management business processes.
  • An Implementation Plan to achieve the "To-Be" recommendations, including a list of phased projects, schedules and estimated budgets.


Asset Management Strategy & PSAB Readiness Plan

Town of Oakville

UEM is currently engaged in the Town of Oakville to address the Town's asset management needs in anticipation of the PSAB 3150 legislative deadline in 2009. The project is driven by multiple stakeholders with varying requirements from Asset Management, including:
  • Fixed Asset Accounting with the ability to support the upcoming PSAB requirements;
  • Maintenance Management, Work Orders, Preventative Maintenance, Service Requests;
  • Integration to Finance for Payroll, General Ledger, Purchasing, A/P, A/R, Activity Costing
  • Integration to GIS for Data Repository, Work Orders Creation, Geographic Work Planning, Data Synchronization, Field Data Editing Solution; and
  • Asset Inventory - Data Repository and Management.


CMMS and Asset Management Review

Regional Municipality of Niagara

UEM performed a review and assessment of the Region of Niagara's Asset Management, Financial Management and Activity/Maintenance Management needs. This included a review of the Datastream maintenance management system (MMS), the facilities ReCAPP Asset Management System (ReCAPP), the SmartStream (GEAC) ledger reporting system, their internal MMS system and the CityView reporting system. Based on industry best practices in asset management (including Infraguide and International Infrastructure Management Manual), UEM provided the Region with the following:
  • A Needs Assessment that summarized business processes and functionality requirements for asset, financial and activity management and the CMMS, ReCAPP and GEAC FA systems.
  • A Gap Analysis of data gaps and issues with the CMMS and GEAC FA, including data capture plans for missing information.
  • A SWOT Analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) of each application related to the specific needs of the Region of Niagara.
  • Recommendations on how each or one of the applications can support the asset, financial and activity management needs of the Region.
