Ian Smith, M. Sc., OLS, OLIP, EP

Biography

Ian has been a member of the UEM Team since the company’s inception in 2001. Ian has specialized experience in geomorphic sciences including erosion control, bank stabilization, and natural channel design in addition to the design of constructed wetlands for residential, municipal, landfill, agricultural and industrial wastewater treatment. Ian’s experience also includes environmental monitoring, analysis and systems modeling of surface water and groundwater. Ian has extensive practical experience developing GIS and Geomatics systems for a wide variety of applications including environmental and ecosystems analysis and infrastructure management. Ian led the UEM Team that designed the award-winning Chedoke Creek Bank Stabilization/Restoration Works for the City of Hamilton (2008 OPWA Project of the year; 2010 SWANA Bronze Medal Project). Ian is also a professor of Hydrology/Hydraulics, Fluvial Geomorphology and GIS/Geomatics.

Biography

Martin specializes in Civil Engineering and has been with UEM since January 2006. Martin is a Project Engineer and his areas of expertise include: design and approvals for site grading and servicing, stormwater management facilities, municipal sanitary sewers, storm sewers and water main infrastructure, as well as preparing cost estimates, specifications and tender documents. Martin also assists with construction observance and administration.

Biography

Amanda joined UEM in January 2014 as an Environmental Planner. Amanda specializes in Environmental Management and Assessment, lending her skills and expertise to UEM’s Waste Management, Environmental Assessment and Planning, Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Water Resources Groups. Amanda is experienced with the preparation of reports and proposals, waste audits, regulatory approval applications, landfill liability estimates, Class Environmental Assessments, and Phase I environmental site assessments, as well as data compilation and analysis.
